my throttle body sticks.you know gas pedal doesnt return. the spring is fine , i have had it apart and cleaned the tps and sprayed around the shaft. it worked for about a month then it sticks again. my question is, can i get the shaft out? i couldn't see any way of doing it. i dont want to go with a bigger spring , its hard enough already. other than replacement any ideas?

If the throttle body is carboned up it may be best to remove it & clean , that way you get both sides of the plates & can clean around the shaft easier than if it is bolted to the intake .
i have done that a couple of times. it never has been carboned up.the problem is the throttle shaft(ya know the thingy with the butterflies on it)its almost like it is seizing up in the shaft bore, like i said i can clean and lube it every couple of weeks, and it works fine. when it starts to get bad again it usually sticks at 3/4 to full throttle, not a good thing in traffic. is this a throwaway item? i just cant see how to get the throttle shaft out. when they go bad is there no way to repair them?-chad

If the throttle plate shaft is worn & binding , esp like you describe about the only thing you can do is replace the throttle body . Its brass & will wear ... dirt , carbon etc works its way along the shaft over time & can bind it . I dont think the shaft is a serviceable item so that means replacing the whole thottle body .
