1990 Ford 250 steering column interchange

1990 Ford 250 steering column interchange
I have a 1990 Ford 250 Diesel stick shift no tilt column. Steering column actuator is bad. Column is worn any way. So I want to replace it.
What are some steering column interchange options? Will a column from the
easier to find gassers interchange? Does it have to be a 250?
I have noticed that truck columns seem to fly out the door.

Welcome to FTE and the IDI diesel forum.
The column from a gasser F150 thru F350 should be fine.
You should be able to go several years in either direction newer or older as well.

That greatly raises the number of potential donors, likely to include some low miles examples. Few IDE diesels wind up in the local yards.

I took the plastic cover off the steering column and found the rod that was not
moving and pushed it by hand.
Will likely need to take the column apart to see how the connection is lost.
