My 04 psd is getting new headgaskets under warranty. Is it worth it to install aftermarket studs if the dealer is willing to do it ? I dont hot rod much. I run matts tunes (ag street and econ tow) and have a Airraid intake with a cat back exhaust. The truck is used mostly to tow my 30' trailer.
Absolutely do it!! I just had mine done since the dealership was willing to install them while they were changing out the headgaskets and I couldn't be any happier!! If you're running tunes, then absolutely get it done! You'll save thousands versus doing it when the motor is not under warranty!
Put down another one to get the studs. However I would be leary of the heads being warped as well. If the heads are warped and they don't fix it either by machining them or getting new ones that are flat then even with studs you run the risk of having problems(trust me, that's what happened to me and I was puking coolant after the stud job).
If there willing to do it I would put them in just as a precaution cant hurt, ford should do it automatically on a job that is under warrenty if you ask me.
Studs are the way to go with the 6.0 from what I've read on here. It seems to me that using studs on most anything is a good idea as they provide better clamping than the TTY bolts.
