Looking at a truck...Help

Hey guys, I am looking at a truck want your opinions.
What it is, its a 97 F350 4x4 crew cab long bed 460 with 98k miles. Truck is beautiful no rust at all never seen snow all the factory paint is on the axles frame leafs the 460 you could eat off of it. New tires on it has lockouts manual tcase duals sounds great. They want $14,900 for it I will offer 12,500.
How bad are the 460s on fuel? (3.55gears has to be running like 1500rpm@55mph)
How big of the diffrence on insurance compared to a f150 to a 350?
anything else I should know about them before I decide to get it?

Thanks
Curtis

Mileage has the biggest effect on the overall price. Your offer of $12.5k is more than fair.

There shouldn't be a big difference in the price of insurance. I found that with Allstate a 3/4 ton truck was actually less expensive to insure than a 1/2 ton truck of the ame year. YMMV

Is it an auto trans? I have a 95 F250HD supercab 4x4, 460, E4OD auto (also for sale ), identical to the truck you described as far as gearing etc. Believe it or not, I get 14 mpg @65mph empty, 8-9 towing. I've not heard of another stock 460 that gets as good of fuel mileage as mine does. If you weren't so far away I'd let you take it for a drive!
