There's a couple ways you can use it. One, put some in your fuel (not sure the amounts, I'm sure it's on the can), that'll clean out your fuel system. Second, put some in your oil and run your engine for ten minutes before you do an oil change. Knew a guy who drained his engine, put FRESH oil in the engine with a can of sea foam, ran it for ten minutes and then drained it again, the oil came out thick and black.
The other way I know is get Seafoam's "Deep Creep", it is basically the same stuff but comes in an aerosol can and a straw (like WD-40). Find a vacuum line that's sucking while the engine is running and spray that stuff down the vacuum line. Your engine will run terribly and blow black smoke, so you might need to work it to keep the RPMs up, but from what I hear, what it does is crystalize the carbon in your system and then your exhaust and stuff blows it all out the back. Then once it's got it all out, it'll run normally again, and more than likely better.
When I did it i put 1/3 in the gas and 1/3 in a cup. Then I pulled the hose off the brake booster on the driver's side firewall. I slowly let the hose suck up the seafoam, then when it was almost gone I submerged the hose and the truck stalled. Put on the hose, Let it sit for about fifteen minutes, then go for a spin. I never put any in my oil yet, but I will before my next oil change.
