Slightly off topic questions . . .

LAST EDITED ON 23-Jul-01 AT 09:36 PM (EST)[p]I wish I was closer to you guys, I have enough spare parts to complete a truck, except for the bare cab and box. At last count, I had 9 spare engines, and 5 spare trannys, including a good AOD, heck, I picked up a rust bucket 87 F250 for $50 today.

Thanks for the info!!

Was this just the outer fender or inners too? I'm looking at inner and outer on the driver's side ... both are smucked up pretty good at the front. I'd try straightening them out, but it ripped open a bunch of the wholes where things bolt up. Are they original Ford parts or thin re-pops? I've heard bad things about the re-pop panels ... thinner, rust quickly/easily.

How tough is it to get those panels on/off? Is it all bolt-up or will I need to have some cutting/welding done?

>I also needed a new rad (as well as everything else). I got >mine at canadian tire, which cost $181.

Yeah, I already priced one of those out. I finally managed to pry the hood open last night ... took out pretty much everything in front of the rad support, that's next on the agenda. The rad got rammed right back into the fan ... so I may be looking into one of those too. Not pretty. I think if I disconnect the rad hoses, I can lift it right out ... doesn't seem to be anything left holding it physically to the truck other than the hoses. Deer suck.

I'm still debating whether to find another grill assembly or 'create' a new front end while I have the opportunity. Who knows.

That is the whole front fender. All you have to do is two bolts in the front, two bolts at the top, and one bolt that you have to get on the side when the door is open. You also have to take all those screws out that holds the plastic part overtop the wheel. Mine fit really well, but yes the metal is slightly thinner.

Cool. I was actually just on the phone with Kevin a few minutes ago and he has the rad cradle for $174 too. Quoted $136 for the outer fender and $96.43 for the inner. So basically about $410 for the front panels I need ... then I'll just need little things like the coolant/washer resevoir, grill, and lights.

Hopefully there was no further damage (like to the engine/driveline/steering ... I've already put over 2 grand into truck repairs this year. A new truck is starting to look less expensive! I may end up going with an aftermarket type grill or something since I've got a blank slate to work with.

Thanks for the tips.
