I don't recall which fuse it was on the 89. The manual for my 90 shows an auxiliary fuel tank selector 10 amp fuse (red). It is located directly under the round flasher relay in the fuse box second one up from the bottom. If the selector is working you should hear a zipping sound when you change the fuel tank switch from front to back.Hope this helps. Tom
Truck is in Belleville Nj I got the truck towed away from those *******s if i ever go back that way i' may have to say hello
Well anyway got my friend messing with it. Now he tells me there is a cap missing off the bottom with a spring lying in the bore. I'm looking in my Haynes book and the fuel advance cam, lever and insided are missing. I'm so pissed. Can't imagine why anyone would take that off.Let alone those tards. I'm in Ohio. I got an injector pump off a gmc 6.2. Is the advance set up the same??

The bore of what? The selector valve? I think you had the right idea in bypassing that thing. I just replaced the metal line on a an 89 f350 dump truck. The selector valve does have those weird plastic lines with the quick connect o-ring fittings. They go to the valve, but like was said earlier, the plastic line going up front stops at about the front leaf spring mount, and turns into steel line. The one I was messing with had the plastic line just slid up onto the metal line. When I replaced the line, I had to use a heat gun to get the metal line warm, and then shove it up into the plastic line.
What I am thinking you can do is just run a 3/8 rubber hose to the front metal line. The problem is, I don't know what's going on at the tank. If someone knows, please chime in, but if there is a place on the tank where you can slide a 3/8" hose onto with a clamp, then you are golden on the fuel delivery.
Go ahead a get your friend to make a list of parts you need, and he or you can go to a junkyard and get them. Sounds like you got a good deal, but it's going to take a little patience to get it going. I say forget the chevy injection pump.
on the injector pump , on the botton there is a cap on the drivers side of it and on the passenger side there is a cap connected to a lever armt going to a cam on the throttle valve rod. In the book it's called advance came actuating arm. the arm and the cam inside is missing as well as the cap on the drivers side. I think now i'm going to have to go for an injector pump unless if can find parts. Only thing i can think of is morons may have thought there was a filter in there but doesn't explain why the arm is missing. I have a gm 6.2 pump in my truck and i was wondering if the advance lever and valve is the same as the Ford one.
I scammed my self. Always wanted a truck like that. dude told me they ran out of fuel and couldn't get it started. once he got my money never heard from him again. Never made good on anything.
Well the tab/tang the lever mounts on isn't broken. i think if they would have unscrewed the cap they would have cracked the tab. Cap is missing ,valve is missing, lever and pin is missing. I have to try to find a junk injector pump or i'm going to have to get a new one. For the life of me can't understand why they would mess with that.
On another note i've been looking at injector pumps on ebay. one dude dieselcare sells them but there's no injector timing advance setup on theirs . on a ford its on drivers side on gm its on passenger side.
The nice people at RH diesel expained what happened. The pin that hold the advance lever arm on has retaining clips that erode or fall off. Then
while the pin falls out and the arm comes off thus the guts pop out of the plug hole. I feel much better now that those morons didn't do it. Maybe that's the reason the truck stopped running. I'll post when i get it all back together. Hopefully i'll announce it's running.

I just bypassed my selector valve and ran 5/16 fuel line from the lift pump all the way to the front tank. the tank had those conectors with the clips, also but you could easly slide 5/16 fuel line with a clamp with no problem I had air intrusion at the selector valve to the back tank since I don't use it because its rusted out I just bypassed everything. truck runs great now no more surging at highway speeds and plenty of power
I would just look up a diesel injection service close to where the truck is.
Anyone that services Stanadyne injection pumps should have spare parts laying around from junk pumps.
You should pull the IP and have the pump timing set after the parts are installed.
A rebuild may not be that much more money, they will need to set it up on a bench tester anyway to get the timing advance set right.

Dieselcare Injection pump=BAD, NO GOOD, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY
I bought one, it was bad when they sent it, had to take it back, they sent me another one, it lasted maybe a month or two, wound up having to buy another pump from a good injection shop. However, on thin I will say about them, they are very nice folks. When I explained to the guy what the deal was, he even gave me a full money refund, you can't beat that, he said since I had so many problems he would just refund it, rather than give me another one since I had to buy one.
thanks dave will do that if i get it running. As far as diesel care I would be nice also a negative feedback on ebay for rebuilt stuff and your done. There another guy hectorwithinjectors on ebay. There's a site readdiesel.com $250 any pump but no one answers phone or email. Autozone wants like $700. Autozone online it's $329 with only a 3 month warranty. Advance auto wants $550. hell i can buy a running 7.3 diesel van for under $1000. I got a powerstroke set up also for something special Maybe this truck, who knows.
I bought a reman IP from Ford for 435 exchange a while back.
I don't remember what the core charge was, and not sure if the parts you have missing would make you have to pay the core charge.
