I have had this happen twice now.
I will drive the 1990 7.3 and shut it down for a while. I then go to restart and it will not fire. After turning it over for awhile it will start. It acts like it is losing it's prime. Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?
If it only happens when warm, could be IP on way out. Otherewise check for air leaks in the most common places, return lines, filter / housing. Usually an air leak will show up as lots cranking cold after sitting a while- like overnight.
Another point - your glow plug system may be intermittent- occationally not heating up GP's enough to fire?
