I have an extra boost a pump in my garage and I was wondering how much or if it would help installing it on the truck. I am not sure if anyone has ever used one on a 7.3 or if it is even possible. I run one on my car and it is easy to install and if it would help I would throw it on...
Is the power at the fuel pump 12v? what is the flow rate at 12v? How beneficial would it be to be able to run a more flow and be able to shim the regulator or adjust the regulator to 70 or 80 psi? The boosta pump could increase the pump output by 50%... guess I need a fuel system expert to answer all these ?'s
There's a lot of us running "Helper" pumps prior to the factory fuel pump. Most of us use a Carter 4070 lift pump 5-7 psi output max (IIRC). To be honest, I didn't notice much of a difference (maybe a little at the high end). But I do believe it will make my stocker last a little longer and it makes draining the fuel tank for removal real simple.

Power to the fuel pump is 12VDC. I use a relay and have tapped that wire as my trigger wire on my relay to start the helper pump. I would be afraid of running a high pressure pump behind the factory pump, risking damaging the factory pump.
Ok, thanks for the replies. The boosta pump actually just increases the voltage for the original pump and keeps the voltage steady. With the extra power the factory pump pushes more fuel, so you dont need a helper pump. I am not sure if this has ever been used on this particular fuel pump but it works on ford car pumps so I was wondering if it would work on this one also...
