My mom has a dodge truck, I know its not a ford, but what type of maintenance should she do? Besides oil changes. It's a 2002 with a cummins.

Perhaps in the glove box, you shall find a manual for the truck. The manual documents all the necessary and/or recommended actions pertaining to the maintenance of the truck in a maintenance schedule. For some reason the manual is not in the glove box, go to your local Dodge dealership and ask/imply/purchase a maintenance
schedule for the truck, or possibly your local auto parts store can provide a maintenance schedule for the truck. Oil changes at regular intervals would be a good start, moving into air filter checks, fuel filter checks and brake checks. Also maintenance should be done on the transmission. The manual explains the schedule details for that year truck. Hope this helps you, and good luck finding a schedule. bigdawgkp

Most Dodge guys replace the fuel filter once a year. I think the auto trans gets serviced every 30k. I used to have one, but that was 3 years ago.

I have done the same schedule for the dodge as I'm doing with the ford now and the dodge til go a good long time before that tranny gave out and then I decided to upgrade. That's what I would do, just follow the same schedule(every 5k oil, every 15k fuel filter, and every 30k tranny fluid), but I also did the other stuff as well since I took it to a shade tree to get it done, but those three mentioned above are a good rule of thumb to go by I think.

i would use synthetic oilin the engine. n ounce of watter dispercent every 2 or 3 tanks of fuel helps the filters from getting pluged up with water.
