Hello,
I have a little annoying problem with my mechanical clutch. It is hard to push in and sticks a little when you let it out and makes an annoying noise kinda like a creaking noise. When i lubricate the point where the throwout bearing release lever meets the adjustable rod, it gets better for a while but then starts again. When i run through a puddle of water it gets really easy and quiet to push in and out. What type of lubricant can i use on this and how do i need to apply it? Will i need to pull the lever away from the rod in order to lube it correctly? I need to fix this because it annoys me and my girlfriend to no end.
thanks again

It may be the part of the forks that touch the release bearing are worn . Also , I think your truck may suffer from the firewall cracking where the clutch linkage assembly bolts to the firewall. I cant recall what model yrs had this problem , you might check yours for flexing or cracks .
Well, my 82 has the same noisy setup, and, it could be where you are lubing, it could be the Z-bar, it has 2 plastic bushings, and they may have desintegrated, or it may be under the dash, the noise in mine is coming from under the dash, and I can only hear it when the truck isn't running, so, it doesn't bother me too much, but, lifting the cab(I'll bet yours does this too) when I put the clutch in is bugging me, so, I'm going to put in new body mounts sooner or later. The firewall cracking Paul is referring to only applies to the newer trucks with a hyd. clutch, so, don't worry about it.
