How much of a PITA is it to get out a broken stud?

If there is some stud sticking out of the head you can usually get a vise grip on it and turn it out.

When the stud is broken of even or below the surface of the head its obviouly harder to get the stud out. You will have to either use and easy out or drill out the bolt completly and install a helicoil. Drilling the studs eats up drills because the studs are usually somewhat hardened or will work harden during drilling.
