Off Road Lights

Has anyone successfully mounted 2-4 off-road/driving lights (KC, Hella, etc.) BEHIND the grille of the truck? I have a 1998 F150 4.6L 4x4 and the bull bar with lights would look sweet but i am wondering if the lights can be mounted behind the grille and still put out decent lighting. I have a billet grille there also. It seems to me that between the grille and the radiator there is plenty of room for them. will this block essential airflow? thanks for your help

if you have a billet grill then there is enough room, i have seen alot of people with 2 KC or hella lights behind the grill. I know the SD can handle 4 but i think the F150 can only handle 2 and yes there is enough light

I am guessing he meant room you can't fit more than 2-6" lights behind a F150 grille. The electrical system will handle tons of lights.

ok...well thats good. it appears that it will hold 4 lights but i'll have to put two back there to see for sure. i do gotta be careful with my battery amp. draw tho cuz i have a 250w linear amplifier for my cb radio and that draws enough...the biggest i can put on a single battery without hurting anything

i have seen a guy with two 1000w amps and a really powerfull stereo, all he did was swap to an optima yellow top and upgrade the alternator but i do not think 4 lights will drain the battery too bad, just make sure to turn the lights off when not using them or you can add a cap to the amp to help with power

and yeah i meant size wise the grill area can hold only 2 MAYBE 3 lights behind the grill if they are 6" light then only 2 since the useable area is only about 16"-18" across

Lots of people have installed off-road lights behind the grille. If I had the money for some nice 8" PIAA's, then I'd put me a set on.

8 Inch might be a little too big, the grill support barely handled my 7 inch IPF's from top to bottom.

Elec system will handle plenty of lights. I've got 2 6x7 100w lights behind the grill, 2 4in 15w/55w in the valance and built in projectors in my headlights. Everything is wired in w/ the headlights thru relays. When I hit my brights, I've got the headlights, projectors, 55w bulbs in the 4in and the 100w 6x7s.
You won't get anything bigger than 7 inches in there either. Mine hit the top and bottom of the support.
