Stanley tools..........
anybody use 'em besides me. My brother bought me a set of combination wrenches while I was working on his car. They are sae and metric, 10" long, and I think 12 different sizes of each. They come in a nice carrying case. He gave 30 bucks for them.
At the time, I told him he wasted his money, but these things are tough. I use one as a cheater on another, and haven't broken one yet. I rate them right up there with Craftsman in quality. I also like their ratchets. I have one that you can rotate the handle in a circle for tight places where you couldn't use it as a lever. Saved my butt a couple of time. I also have their other model that extends from 10 inches to 18 inches.
They would make excellent Christmas gifts as you can't beat the quality and price. Chinamart has them here. jd

Got a few of them myself. Latest was a set of metric combination - necessitated by a starter change in a Walmart parking lot - there was an Autozone right there.......
Course you look thru my toolbox (s) you will find Snap-On, Craftsman, Stanley, Diamond, Thor, Oxford, Wright, SK, General, Crescent, and of course ViceGrip......and others.....

Most of my carpentry tools are stanley.
tape measure (the best brand for this)
chaulk line
nail sets
hammer
etc.
I prefer Stanley handtools for work.
My car stuff is a mix and match deal too.

I bought one of those extendable ratchets and love it. It has made getting some tough bolts loose that my regular racthet couldn't because of not enough torque and my 1/2" was to big to fit.
Gone but not forgotten.

I like Stanley tools. I have some of their graphite handled hammers which are made in Mexico. I would much rather support Mexico's economy than China's. Given the choice, I will buy a Vaughn hammer made in U.S.A.

I tend to have two sets of tools.
I try to keep decent tools in my tool box in the barn - SK, Crafstman, etc.
Then I have a bucket of tools that gets carried to the equipment when it breaks in the field. That's full of cheapos from harbor freight or the flea market, as those sometimes don't come home - might be 'cause I break 'em, or I forget/lose them, or get pissed off and chuck them into the pond...

I agree w/ the stanley tape measure. I cant think of an American brand tape measure right this second. I bet as soon as I click post reply I'll think of some.
I'm right w/ you herdsman. I have 2 tools sets ranging from anything to everything. ! set is in my shop the other is on my truck. I work on equiment in the field. I dont pull it to the shop unless I have to. My Dad It does'nt matter what it is short of a flat tire, he carries hiswork to his shop. Break a bolt, pin, or keyway going to the shop.
I would have my tool boxes full of American tools but almost nothing is made in America any more but jap cars and trucks. Heck stanley tools now carry life time warranty. Its about time our goverment ban inporting. I would then make sure everything said MADE IN THE USA. I use to untell I was made into an idoit when I was proved that something i had that said made in the USA was only asumbled in the USA.

Stanley is a huge corporation, and mfgr under many names. One might be using a Stanley product and not know it. Their tools are carried by some of the brand companies such as Ace Hardware, Grainger, and others.
I wonder how much of the Craftsman line is foriegn made? This is my tool of choice also, but I personally believe Stanley is of similar quality, if not better, and doesn't carry the heft price tag. jd
