It has hedman long tubes on it already, i have a radiator with dual electric fans off my mustang, i have a msd 6al box, distrib, taylor wires also i can use. what mass air computer do you use in these trucks? And where do you get the conversion?
-Randy
Easiest way to do a mass air conversion is to get a donor truck with all the parts and a very similar setup to yours (302 with auto trans).
Since tread life isnt important and you dont seem to drive it too much of the street you should consider some Super Swampers i think, check out the TSL or SSR series
I have to agree... I suggest those other things only because it sounded like you had your mind set on NOT swapping gears, but if you're going to make those tires EVEN bigger, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you re gear those axles...

LOL, that's not a street tire at all. He said this is his daily driver that he'll be driving to work!!
the mods i had in mind all along, were rebuilt 302 with ported e7 heads with bigge valves etc.... port and gasket matc hthe intake , bigger tb, air intake kit, a aftermarket cam, electric fan, msd setup. full exhaust. But the motor is there anyways to get by with that and a speed density setup?
I still say take some of that money that you plan to use for engine upgrades and re gear if you plan to go up in tire size. Most people overlook things between the engine/trans and the tires. It doesn't matter how much power you have up front, you'll still have considerable strain on the engine trying to turn those meats.
35"at bfg's are nice they ride nice. look nice.. get good traction on snow and ice.. and are decent offroad.. but not for the hard core... and they are priced right.. they are my favorite street tire.
Exactly right. They're not a hard core mud boggin' tire, But for the trails they're great. Thats where Super Swampers come in. But for everything else, I love BFG's.
yeah we have some 33 inch bfg at's on my wifes 04 ford 2x4 with a leveling kit up front and they are real nice! I was just looking for something to dive into a woods/mud with. I want to run over everything in my path lol something tough!
If your running 3.55's with 35's, your workin the engine pretty hard. I would go to 4.56's if you want stock power back with you 35's, or 5.13's if you want a little more get up and go with 35's.
with 38's like you want, 5.13's would restore stock power, and 5.38's would give you a little more get up and go.
Heres a link i found with a good tire size to gear ratio chart. http://www.4lo.com/calc/geartable.htm
^^^^^This is just a rough idea on what gears will do for you.
you CAN do that, it will be ok, but if you want to do it in a way that you won't have to spend thousands hopping up your engine to compensate, graes are your friend. =P
