Lead head: It's carbon dioxide unless there is inadequate oxygen and then it carbon monoxide.
Ain't chemistry wonderful?
Actually, the products of combustion include CO and CO2. The CO will kill you much more quickly than will the CO2. ALL combustion from petroleum products gives off CO even if the heater is working PERFECTLY.
What about burning hydrogen? Say you had a rig to burn pure oxygen and hydrogen (without blowing everyone within a 100 mile radius up), wouldn't the only by products be water vapor?
Asking because I saw this video where this person converted a small 5HP 4 stroke motor to run on hyrdogen, and he said the only by product was breathable air and water vapor
We used a heater like the pictured propane heater. Only it was a 250,000 BTU heater. This was in an outdoor olympic size pool with trusses and Visquine(sp?) covering it. Within a half an hour, we all went from wearing 4 layers (thermals, t-shirts, sweats, jacket) to just the t-shirt and jeans. And this was while we got really cold and all that snow.

EDIT: Just read you said petroleum products.
Certainly, burning pure oxygen in a clean environment doesn't produce CO. I wanted to mention the CO thing with petroleum products because, unfortunately, there are people who have died thinking that a nice blue flame indicates that there is no hazard to them.
I'll second (third?) the warning about CO - use a detector as Nitramjr says. We (EMS) got called to a house for a very sick woman earlier this week - her husband was using a propane heater in the garage with the door open to the house. Not a real high count (13PPM in the garage), but it was enough to put her in the hospital even though she never was in the garage. CO poisoning is nothing to mess around with...
I picked up the 45 to 80,000 btu heater friday and took off work 2.5 hrs early to try it out.Armed with a 12 pack of MGD and a pint of brandy I went to the garage and hooked it up.It didnt do to bad.I could tell when it warmed up cause I couldnt see my breath anymore. It was pretty cold outside and on low took the chill off.
Overall im happy with the puchase. If I wasnt such a miser and would run it on high it would have warmed it up more.It still feels like I have some gas left so I probably have a few more nights to hang out.
Thanks for all your input.I would have to say this was a good purchase
