96 F150 Fuel Gauge Problem
I have a 96 Ford F150 with dual tanks. I bought the truck about a yr ago, the front fuel pump assembly was not working correctly so I ran it off the rear tank til about a month ago my rear tank fuel assemblys went out, so i had the fuel pump assembly replaced in the front tank. Bc its the bigger tank an was easiest to drop.
Then i was informed that my gauge was reading incorrect, the mechanic checked the float an everything in the tank an said it was fine.. So my gauge doesnt not drop below half tank an when the tank is full doesnt go over 3/4 a tank.
Also when i was running just off the rear tank the gauge worked, but if i would flip it to the front it would stay at half tank an stall which I later found out was due to the fuel assembly an the tank was empty. But now the gauge doesnt work for either tank.... What could be the issue I may have, electrical or what? an whats needed to fix it?
I also have a spare cluster for the truck, but I havent tried switchin them out yet to see if that fixes the problem bc id rather try to leave the original cluster in for mileage reasons.. Would anyone consider me trying this or think it would even make a difference?
Thanks
Nate
