I have a 93 f150 the odometer and speedometer is not working I was wondering if that is a easy fix or not? I am new with these trucks so any help would be very much in need.
I have not had that problem myself, but have read it could be the VSS. Plugs on the rearend(8.8). Should show up if you pull codes. VSS-Vehicle Speed Sensor???. Its a good way to keep the miles off.
Is the odometer still showing numbers and just not changing? Or is it gone completely?
If the odometer is gone completely then your problem is most likely a bad PSOM (Programmable Speedometer/Odometer Module). This is the part that holds the info for your odometer, grab one from a junk yard and swap it out to see if it fixes your problem. Also be aware that the PSOM holds the actually mileage for your truck, so if you swap to a used one, your ODO will now show the mileage of the truck that new one came from.
If the odo is blank the PSOM is shot. PSOM failure is also indicated by a jumping speedo needle. However, it could simply be a bad connection- I'd start there and if that doesn't help get yourself a used gauge cluster. You will need to find one from the same year truck as yours, and if you can find a cluster with a factory tach (provided you don't already have one) it's an added bonus. Clusters can be had as cheap as $30-40, I paid $125 for mine because it had almost exactly the correct mileage for my truck.
