porting heads

I know its probably been said here before but I can't look through 400 plus pages. Is there a site where I can go to get good instruction on porting my fe Heads or can someone tell me here. I am really concerned about the bumps in exhaust port how much can I take out ? as the water jacket is right underneath.
Thanks

It's really hard to tell you how much to take out. I would say the best way to do it would be get your headers and gaskets and use them as a template. There is no reason to make it bigger the headers can flow anyway. Just take the gasket and cut it to fit the header ports then lay it on the heads and use layout fluid or a paint pen to mark the extra material on the head. DON"T CUT STRAIT IN, on the exhaust ports either, you need to roll it in. Like a smooth slope. If you cut in strait you WILL HIT THE water jacket. Seen a guy who did that and scraped a set of heads. You can take a small wheel sander like goes in a drill and polish it out after you are done. I used a 240 grit wheel and it made it slick as glass. Don't do the intake that fine though, you shouldn't use anything finer then 80 grit on intake. It can cause the gas to pool. Don't ask me how, but that is what I have been told. Hope this helps. Sorry so long winded..... lol

The guy that you need to talk to is Scott Vincent! Here is his email: scott_vincent44@hotmail.com

You tell him that I sent ya! He is a good man (he is a good friend of mine)and he will tell ya what you need to know about porting FE heads. He has ported more Iron FE Heads then anyone that I know. And gets killer #'s out of them! No Joke.
