Front End Question

OK, I have a front end question. Does the EX have ball joints in the front or control arms or both? I have to get new tires and need to get either the ball joints changed or the control arms changed. How 'bout it guys? Your feedback appreciated.

You have ball joints. No control arms.

Why do you think you need new ball joints? (Besides the obvious that Ford OEM ball joints stink...)

First, I have 225,000 miles on the vehicle. Second, something is chewing up my friont tires. I have got to get some new ones shortly after the first of the year. I am having trouble keeping the front end aligned. Third, I can hear bumping of clicking when I hit a bump coming into my driveway.

Balljoints. I cannot believe you have not switched those out yet. They are a known evil on the X. Make sure the new ones you do get have the nipple.

I cant believe u havent changed them. I do mine around 50k and then again at 105k. The first set was OEM and this new set that i used were Moog or mog (not sure bout spelling but it is one of those to) greaseables. Greaseables are guranteed to last alot longer then non greaseables. If ur gonna replace the ball joints (which is causing ur problems) then i would highly recommend going to moog greaseables. Im am also very surprised that ur front end is not squeaking when u turn.

So r u goin with OEM motorcraft ball joints or Moog greaseables. U will also like the price of them. I thought it was cheaper then buying OEM motorcrafts at the dealership. I think i only paid $120 for parts and my buddy did it for me so Labor was free

Please tell me what the name of the bearing that would go out in the area. I think I need to have that one changed also. I had one changed about a year ago, and the guy said that the other needed watching. 225,000 miles. What does the peanut gallery think?
