I have a 2000 excursion I am currently getting 8.2 mpg. I live in chicago and I have not had the chance to go on road trip yet so I don't know what is mileage on high way. The 8.2 is city driving, I was wondering if this is average.
I on average get 10 city and 14 highway. Now if i push the engine (like i always do) then ill get ur mileage. When u accelerate, what rpms are u pushing?
when I'm driving the rpm's don't go over 2k maybe 2500. the avg just dropped from 8.5 when it started getting cold a few weeks ago. what about trying to clean my map sensor? I just read about that in another thread. how do I clean it? And thanks for answering my ?'s
Wow I guess I am just getting great mileage even with my lift and tires. I get around 12-14 around town and on the highway 15-17. Long trips were I having been rolling for a while I have seen 18's. IEathybrids why do you say K&N are bad for your engine. They actually have a better air filtration method as long as you keep it clean. I have never heard that K&N let more dirt in. Note this milegage is done in stock mode. If I put high performance mode in the truck via superchip I average 14 no matter what, unless I am really getting on her then it plumets to 9-10 and I can watch the gaugae drop.
When I bought my X from the dealer, the guy that traded it complained of mileage. 7.2 according to the overhead! this guy lived in Berwyn IL. I live in the suburbs so after I reset the overhead my combined city/highway mileage is 12.5 in the summer and 11 in the winter! solo highway is 14mpg at 67mph. with 4.30 gears. towing 8500lbs. at 65 gets me approx. 8!
NJ, their are many tests online that state that k&n doesnt filtrate ur air as good as a oem filter. But if ur building a 500+ hp engine, then id get one but if ur looking for maximum engine longevity then id can it.
Ieat thanks for the info. Never knew that. I like a little bit of both depending on time of year. Winter I usually could care less about the power (HP). I can say though my Air Raid system definately collects a ton of dirt. I clean approx every 2 motnhs and it has a ton of dirt in it.
Np NJ, i to wanted a k&n, until i heard that. But no one can deny that k&n can improve ur air flow alot! I just dont think it is worth engine longevity for some hp that chances are u probally wont feel. Especially if u live in a dusty area.
