Installed the Edge

Turned out to be near 70 degrees this afternoon here in Western Kansas so I hit 3 different local shops hoping someone would have the time to install the Pyro probe that was supplied with my new Edge EVO. No one wanted to so I got out the jack, creeper and did it my self. Everything went fine cept for all the metal filings I still have down my shirt. Did have an issue of no power to my OBTII port that was resolved with a call to EDGE. So far I have just tested the three different levels, did get some smoke in the "Race" and "Extreme" settings. The pedal sure feels much more lively in those settings too. Have gone back to the Tow setting and will leave it there most of the time. Played around with the display currently have RPM, Boost, EGT and EOT. The real test will be my trip to get the Toyhauler and head off to Florida after the first of the year. Think I'm ready.

I DD my truck in the 80 setting (middle). I thought the low setting flat out sucked, but that was my oppinion. I pulled skid loader and grossed about 18k, and the medium setting worked well. But I always watched the egt gauge. I just got my DP, and am about to tow with it in the am. Whats your setup weight with the toyhauler, and loaded?

I currently have the Edge Juice w/Atitude and the Evo stacked. I do enjoy power, but it just doesn't fit me anymore. After my new tranny (BTS) is installed, I will be switching to DP. I am not going to dis on Edge, but I do liked their products. Have not had one problem hauling my 3000 lbs. camper and towing my 4000lbs. boat up and down the hills here in Washington. Switch the settings and away we go.

I wanted to get the Edge with Jody's tunes on it but was too late. Hopefully the agreement between them will be renewed and I can send the pod in for the update. Reason I went with the Edge is for the monitoring. Don't like the A pillar gauge sets and don't want to drill a lot of holes in the dash. Having the Pyrometer, Boost, oil temp and another in one spot to view is great. I am very happy with the display. Will be pulling a Toyhauler from the midwest to South Florida after the New Year. My guess is it will be 14000 lbs of very tall, long wind catcher. I wanted to be sure I could monitor my EGT's during the trip. The Edge fills that need with a bit of tuning too. Bought it from Jody so I hope to be first in line when he works out the deal with EDGE.

Good deal, try using the lower setting and tow with it, maybe get comfortable, then once your comfortable watching egts, etc, try towing with the middle setting. Out of the 3 settings, the middle was the most Daily driveable for me.

That's what I was thinking. In the higher settings if you can keep off the pedal you should be able to control the EGT's. It's when you don't know where they are when you get into trouble. I'm also looking for the best fuel economy I can get so I will try and run a tank through in one trip in each level to get an idea of what's best. I found that if I stayed at of below 2100 rpm for the majority of the time stock I could get a little over 15mpg on the road (empty)with the cruise on. Hopefully I can post some higher numbers.

There will not be a renewed agreement. It's simple, Edge is EPA and CARB compliant with all of their products. As for custom tuning on the Evolutions, it will not be done any longer. We support Edge's decision to not allow anyone to custom tune their products.

If you talked to Jody prior to Tuesday of last week then yes we were still talking to Edge about the possibilty of continuing this. It was decided that day by the Edge GM and there's nothing we can do to change their minds. When it comes to the EPA and CARB no one will be able to override their regulations.

Does that mean my brand new DP will be EPA compliant!?!?!?!?!?! I swear my truck is for off-road use only.

So, Diane, is EPA breathing down your neck on some of this tuning?
Or are you still allowed to tune an engine according to the date of manufacture?
