Anybody changed to Warn Manual Locking Hubs on there X? can one expect any better MPG? Getting out to lock them doesn't bother me if MPG is greater. Thanks Lynn
MPG won't change just because you engage/disengage the hubs manually. And no, I don't have Warn hubs on mine. My OEM hubs have been trouble-free. FWIW, I did have a pair of Warn hubs on my old '78 Landcruiser ... never a problem with 'em.
I have a pair of Mile Markers in my 01 Ex, love them. The OE ESOF hubs are garbage, you never know if they fully engage or disengage correctly. The conversion is easy, just remove the ESOF hubs and install the others. I disconnected the vacuum solenoid electrical connector and pulled and plugged the hose going to the hubs too. This was to make sure that any vacuum leaks wouldn't interfere with my HVAC. The switch on the dash still works fine to engage the transfer case, all I have to do different it manually lock the hubs in.
I wouldnt swap them out if your looking for better mileage. When the ESOF hubs are unlocked it is the same as have manuals unlocked. The advantage to the ESOF is the convienience of not having to mess with getting out to lock/unlock the hubs .
