If it is an aftermarket controller, then you can just go to the dealership and buy a $17 pigtail for the new truck and then wire it into the controller. Then just plug it into the factory harness under the dash. I seriously doubt that the controller harness under the dash is going to be the same plug from a 99 to an 05. The aftermarket controllers don't come with a factory plug already wired to it unless it was custom ordered. But you should be able to just cut the plug off and splice in the pigtail for the new truck.

I was curious about this myself, so I did some research. It appears that Ford changed the trailer brake controller plug in 2005.

1994-2004 looks like this (the plug on the left).

2005 to 2007 looks like this.

look in your glove box

Look in your glove box. The truck is supposed to come with the pigtail if it has trailer tow package. Maybe by luck it is still there.

Ooohhhh I forgot about that...Nice call. If it is there, it prolly has the additional fuses/relays needed for the main junction box under the hood.

OK Anyone here have thiers that they can post a pic of the main junction box under the hood and the fuse panel under the dash from the manual? Or at least the list of which number slot goes to what?

I would post mine but I don't think the 99 and the 05 are going to match up.
