Anyone know what a 429/460 flywheel (man. trans) tooth count should be? and what Inside & outside diamter? I've got the right flywheel to go with the motor & clutch but i counted 164 teeth, and from my research it looks like a 164tc ring gear was pretty much on small blocks only... Any suggestions? 180 tc? 184tc?

1969/70 429 = 176 teeth ~ 11 1/2" clutch.
1983/91 460 = 180 teeth ~ 11 7/8" or 12" clutch depending upon application.
What size clutch/pressure plate are you using?
What is the diameter of the pressure plate mounting holes of your flywheel?
Are there any markings on your flywheel like C9AE-6380-A or E3TE-6375-AA?

we have an 11" clutch, and a flywheel w/ a 15.5"OD currently there are NO markings on the flywheel at all makes things real easy
You prolly have a 289/302/351W flywheel, 164 teeth/11" clutch. It's not for a 351M/400 because those flywheels use the same ring gear as an 1983 and later 460. You're going to have to find a flywheel that matches the engine you know have. If you use the later 460 flywheel you'll have to change the harmonc balancer and spacer.
I think the Flywheel is right, but the ring gear is wrong. Every part catalog we find they are calling for a 15.5"OD flywheel and 180 or 184tc for a pre mid '79 big block 429 or 460. Just wondering if anyone knows for sure what TC to get. I'm prety sure we have the right flywheel.

Every parts catalog? What every parts catalog?
I listed the correct number of teeth above for a 1969/70 429 manual transmission flywheel = 176 teeth = that info is from the 1965/72 Ford Car Parts Catalog.
For 1983 and later 460 manual transmission flywheel = 180 teeth = that info is straight from the 1980/89 Ford Light Truck Parts Catalog.
You can't have the right flywheel if the ring gear is wrong.
