Gauges Freaking Out! 2002 Navigator

Hello.

This has happened twice in the last month.

My speedometer pegs at 100 and my RPM and gas meter peg at zero.

Any thoughts?

Either your battery or alternator is going/has gone south. Since the problem has occurred randomly, I'd bet your alternator is on its way out. Go to Advanced Auto and have them check both.

Thanks for the input.

I am checking on both of those for sure. Someone also told me that there can be an instrument panel issue.

No problem. One day after work I started the engine and all the gages pegged and then came back to normal. Next time I tried to start it, it would not crank. Turns out I had a bad alternator. My new alternator (Palladium?) was about $170. I put it in myself. It was very easy.
