Hi Hyp.... Well the original Q was which intake is better....So He's looking to go to a 4bbl.....and if you ask a Q about an intake.. I think you can afford a carb to go on it..... $10 Bucks at a bone yard and a $20 rebuild kit...

I mean, I am Damn far from having deep pockets.... But the price as I mentioned Adapter VS a used intake.....there's not much difference....and why the hell go backwards...Doesnt make any sense too me.... But you can leed a Horse to water but you cant make em drink.... JMO

But thats right..I forgot you have all the answers, as uaual....He would be best off. If he strpped for cash just buying a used intake from a bone yard... But there are plenty of intakes on Epay....that are aluminum....For not much more than..a damn adapter that wont do *****....

Well someone must still do this, they still sell new 2 to 4 bbl adapters. I've come into two of these from parts motors in the past year. I'm gonna put em both to use on an Edelbrock 2x4 intake for a small block and run twin Holley 500's. Seems you also have all the answers, (usually the high dollar answers to simple questions)And the snide comments about other's suggestions . Not everyone can afford new, high dollar stuff like you. If you have problems with people offering simple, low buck solutions to a problem, you need to just keep your comments to yourself. Some don't care to hear that ****.

LMAO! Call me stupid, call me crazy, call me blind, I don't care. I guarantee I've been called worse by girls I've never...uh...kissed!

Getting back to the first post: He never said which carb he had, just that he wanted to shed some weight and go aluminum.

Now I'm going to take a wild guess here and say that a 1975 F-250 Camper Special with a 390 will probably have a 4V "T" intake and possibly have that internal EGR passage; If it's still original after 30-some years.

If that wild guess is right, slapping a tall runner intake on a "velocity port" head is a step backwards:

Will blending the head's intake port restore the flow enough to make the extra work and expense justifiable?

If partlyian is running a 4V, what improvements can he expect with the other dual planes?

Not to count the guy's money for him, but I'm not understanding the benefit he'll have over a stock set-up, other than weight savings and bling factor.

I was just trying to see if changing the intake was worth since I have to pull it apart anyway. I didnt intend to start a squable. From what I can tell, and I am new at this, is that the truck is bone stock. If keeping it that way is fine then i will do so, but if there is an option of new intake and headers that work for a camper special then I am willing to go that route also. I have found rpm intakes around here for 150 so I thought if its worth it I'll do that.

Thanks to all those that have given their input.

Bud, thats what I tried too say from the start... KNow worries here... I have a 70 F250 CS with a 395" motor in it....030" over ..and I run the RPM on it..it has a much better runner design that the original Intake....I have an RV cam in it.. A set of Headman Headers....and 2 1/2" " exhaust...and I run a Holley 750cfm carb on it.......I had a set of 3.73's in the rear a few years ago....and it was still a stump puller....I know have a set of 4:10's in the back....and it will still boil the tires on the street....

Of Course a Cam change and some port work are on the agenda for next spring..... It sounds like to me your going in the right direction... I'll end up sending my heads up to Les Schmader up in PA..to have him rework my C4 heads..as he has done some fine work for me before..and have the valve's upgraded to CJ size.... and its a daily driver.....Now and will be..I have another project going on.....

And BadDude..aint Nothing This old Counrty Boy cant handle... Run Whatcha Brung..and Just hope you Brung enough!! LOL.....

Baddad didn't run me off...after waiting on idiots at parts counters for 35 + years, my hide is thicker than concrete.

I'm still here, being my cantankerous grouchy self as usual.

Baddad and I have had several go-arounds, but a funny thing happened a coupla days ago. It seems we have something in common besides Fords...US Navy history and RR's, so a truce has been declared.

'course, we might have an argument one day about who was better...Mush Morton, Eugene Fluckey, Joseph Enright or Richard O'Kane.

Well I haven't read anything on Eugene Fluckey or Joeseph Enright.................... But Between O'Kane and Morton.............that's a call I'd rather not make. Those two were what you'd call......."Two Peas in a Pod". O'Kane participated in more sinkings than anyone else, but Dudley was his equal.

I don't see why not. The cars they came on weren't exactly light.

Now that the question has been repeated, maybe someone more knoweledgable will chime in.

And yes a Police intake would work without any problems... Buy watch what the hell you buy..Because alot of them are NOT as advertised... and If you buy an aftermarket intake.....you not only know what the advanced Tech is on the plenum and the runner's... It also knocks off about 50lbs....

And "IF" he can Find a Good condition RPM in his neck of the woods...for a $150..I'd say go for it.....the prices of orriginal Hi-Perf intakes have gone thru the roof... Because the Resto people cant buy them fast enough....

And Hyp..your right about would they work or not....Those Cars loaded with all the BS weighed a couple tons.... But IF you going to pull one..and its at the right price..why NOT go with something lighter?? JMO..

And I'am Done with the Boxing Match..... At Least I admit when I'am wrong..and appologize for it.... I'am that big of Man!! Un-like other's that feed a line and swear by it!!! I have been wrong before and I'll be wrong again....But at least I dont purposely go by a book and swear its the Bible...I havent seen a motor Bible that was right year to date.... But Some have... JMO
