My 300 has a miss to it. When i start it up in the morning you can,t really notice it. Once you drive it for a while you can really hear the miss. Any ideas.

A miss after warm up can be many things. Coil? Is it getting warm (i.e. has it leaked any of its oil?) Check closely. Cracked valve/head/seat? Moisture in the distributer? test for this stuff, don't just replace parts. Distributer shaft/bushings/mechanical advance pivots worn? Leaky intake gasket? You haven't stated what year? Do you have a carb? Fuel injection, any smog stuff? You wanted ideas. Hope these help. Herman

My truck is an 84 F150 4x4 witha 4 speed manual transmission. The only area that i can see that it leaks oil is around the base of the distributor. I have new spark plugs, wires, and many other new parts.

Number 1 rule: Test first, replace after you are sure you know you need to. Check your compression and make sure your lifters are actuating properly and are properly adjusted (yes you can adjust them, but you usually hear them first, but..) If you have a worn lifter, after your engine warms up and the oil is thinner, one or more could be leaking down. Check First, replace only those that leak down too quickly. I just replaced a 300 head that had two cracks in the #1 and #6 exhaust seats. (easy job, machine work is the only real expense) you shouldn't have this problem though. your engine should already have the hardend seats, but it could be a cracked valve. After it warms up and is missing, can you feel the miss in the exhaust? if you can do a compression test. Easier yet, when it is hot, check your vacuum, then do a compression test. Herman
