Just need to know, how much is considered safe to tow with Agressive Street Economy file from Spartan....Need to tow a horse trailer, weight approximately 6000-7000lbs, distance only about 100 miles. Have gauges but not able to flash the truck with a tow file before towing this trailer...
best regards, from Iceland..and yeh this is my first post...
The main thing you have to worry about is how aggressive it is and the cargo that you are hauling. I haul horses all the time to horse shows etc. and weight wise I don't think you'll have a problem with the program. How are the horses on the road? are the forgiving when it comes to the sudden movemants or are they the type of horses that get leary before and after a haul? In other words are they experianced travelers and know that "stuff" happens on the road and not to worry about it even though they can't see what's going on. The key is also be gentle with the throttle on that one and give youself alot more room to slow down, the heavy shifting on the tune can jerk them back there as well. Hope this helps.
tex25025..Thanks. The horses are used to be hauled. The guy who ownes them will be with me so I think that will be well covered. I was just worried that this file would not "handle" this load....
But again tex25025, thanks for the tips...
The file will more than handle the load. YOU just have to make sure you don't let your EGT's get too high. It's not a matter of horsepower it's a matter of high temps. Just use common sense and a judicious foot.
