New Ford owner here

Hi guys - was pointed to this site by a buddy of mine. Picked up my first Ford over the weekend. It's a 95 F150, 5 speed with the Straight 6, 107k on it.

I basically needed a pickup truck for winter driving (Other car is a 99 Camaro SS - Ford and Chevy living in harmony!!), hauling a dirtbike, and dump/wood runs.. I looked at about 15 trucks before I found this one. It's in great condition, and runs awesome.

Here's a couple pics:

I think the only thing I want to change is to take that unibrow visor off.. Not sure I'm digging the look.. I guess I can throw it on ebay.

Also - there is no tach on this truck, I'd love to put one on though. What is the RPM limit on the truck? Is there another gauge panel I can swap in? This truck seems like a stripper model - manual locks/windows, no headliner, manual hub locks, etc.

Any other tips or whatever are always appreciated!
Thanks!

looks like it's in awesome shape. good find, and welcome to FTE

as for the tach, pretty popular mod. it's ~$50 or $60 off ebay and then you can sell your old one.
good write up here:
https://www.ford-trucks.com/article/...Or_Bronco.html
just to point out again: you have to get the same year as your truck

Manual hubs, t-case and tranny - very nice! You can sit back and laugh over the next couple of months as people pop in to complain about the auto hubs and electric t-case failing during a snow storm.

Looks good, but you the single foglight looks funny. I agree about the visor thing, not a big fan. From what I gather it's probably better that you have the manual hub locks because the autos break constantly (already mentioned above).

Also, got any mods done to your '99? I'm a big fan of those cars.. T56?

Welcome to FTE

Might gain a little MPG removing that visor. You will need a 94-95 guage cluster (look on back should have numbers like FT5 **** or F4 ***** and you will need to put your (speedo ) center section back in. It has your Miles saved in it . Its a easy swap .

You cant find one the r guys that have them on here. Later

And yes thats a nice truck .

Darn nice looking truck. I'm with you, the visor needs to go. If it doesn't have a limited slip I would add one then you are set for the winter.

Looks good. don't abuse it. You may want to get it away from that tree. Sap doesn't come off very easy!

Good find. 107k miles on a 300 is just the start of breaking the motor in. Visor definitely needs to come off!

Nice find... if the body holds up you should easily get another 100k out of that beast. The straight 6 is a low rpm motor, I believe the correct tach for it only goes to 4000rpm, and most of the power is below 3000rpm, short shift it and use the torque.
