Well, opened up Betsy's hood today and noticed a big long string by the drivers side battery...well it happened to be a big long string with a small piece of belt that had detached itself from the serpentine belt
i will be replacing this tomorrow but my main concern is waht belt to get...i dont want a cheap AutoZone belt that is gonna squeak and squeal i want something quiet just like OEM
Anyone used AutoZone belts and how do they hold up, and do they squeak
Autozone, Napa, Advanced Auto.....the belt won't squeak just cause of the store you bought it from. The most common reason for a squeaking belt if new is it's too loose. Or if it's old...glazed over and slipping. I have bought parts and belts from all the local parts stores and can't really tell any diff other than price. I have seen many people say that Autozone is garbage parts, but you can go to Napa or Western Auto and find the same parts...just a little more money sometimes.
Yea you missed what they already took off.....We took an innocent thread and turned it pretty gross with smart a$$ remarks. Just another day in the neighborhood!
I've had my CarQuest belt about 50k miles and no issues. That being said I just ordered a Motorcraft from Powerstrokeshop.com today for $10 less than a CarQuest.
I had a friend check for a belt today, he called me this afternoon and said that there are two differant belts for the truck, one an inch longer than the other. Seems with one you almost have to remove the alt in order to get it on. Has anyone else run into this before? I believe one was a Goodyear belt. Does someone have the part #? TIA Lee
