Battery question

is 460 cold cranking amps big enough for a 302? The starter turens really slow and sometimes not at all..... voltage is 14v.... good. I bought a new starter thinking mine was maybe on the way out, but should I get a beefier battery and try that first? like a 750 CCA?..... FYI, 302 with automatic tranny

460 CCA should do the trick. Have you load tested the battery? Check your cable connections; battery, starter relay, starter connection and don't forget the block ground connection. I like to use sandpaper to clean the connections, gets um nice and shiney.

The starter could be toast, they will die if they are cranked way too long (they have a duty cycle and heat buildup will damage them) Good luck, start with the cables...

450cca? That is a tiny battery. Your truck should have come with a group 24 battery which is 770 cca. I use a group 65 which has 1000 cca.

I use the cheapest battery Walmart sells...as long as it fits. I don't really crank mine though, just hit the starter and VROOM.........
