aight i got a 74 f100 with an inline 6. its manual stering and every thing and its got a oil leak pretty bad. eventually i wanna do an engine swap. anybody wanna point me in the right direction cause i know nothing bout my truck as i am a proud owner of an eclipse but i've noticed that there's room for a big engine and i wanna fill that space up
Buy a parts truck up thru 1979 with the motor and trans you want and everything should be generally a bolt in swap. This is the easiest and cheapest way to upgrade these trucks. Check the past posts in this site for all the details...
My folks bought a 73' f-100 brand new and cost $3,700 at the time (can you believe that sh%t!) I learned to drive in this truck and even drove to school in it - i was about 13-14 then.this thing never had a major problem in all the years we had it. Helped my mom move to Arizona in about 92' (drove the truck) and a few mos. after, she sold it to a local landscaper for $2,000!!! anyway, i think it had a 390 V-8 (not sure but i know it was V-8) so yeah, you can go big.
yea there is defiantly plenty of room for the motor. yea i bought my truck for 1,000 and got some minor stuff fixed and it still has an oil leak but it sat for six months and started right on its first try. i love this truck so much my eclipse is getting put on hold for this bad boy. i'm only 18 so i got plenty of years to work on it
