Well recently the truck has been kind of hard to start so i have had to have it jumped a few times so this made me check all my electircal parts First i find out that the solenoid had a broken part i went ahead and replaced it .... then it turns out my Batterys were both dead and since i was in there went ahead and had the alternator checked which turns out was fried aswell ... so im guessing this is what led to the end of my batterys now that i have all these things changed and fixed the truck will not turn over . I put the keys forward and no sound of trying to turn over even with the new batterys. One thing that i did notice when trying to turn it over was i did not see the usual (Wait To Start) light so now im wondering is it the cps or the starter or maybe even fuel. So any of you guys with ideas let me know what yall think. Thanks again
Oh and if you guys think that it might be the Cps by any chance do you guys have the part number for the new style cps -the cheaper one. LOL thanxs again.
Could you have possibly not connected a wire at the solenoid that provides power to the ignition switch that would activate the solenoid etc.? Since you had a few items disconnected, that is a possibility.
As you describe this is an electrical problem, not fuel or cps. Do you have elctricity elsewhere in the truck? Does the interior lights come on when you open the door? Do you have headlights? That is the start of the diagnosis...then are you sure that you connected all cables and wires correctly AND that you tightened all nuts down securely?
well when i tried to turn it over it didnt do anything and all of a sudden it made a clicking/buzzing noise at one point i thought i had my flashers on or something but they were turned off. And i did find a couple of fuses burnt but i didnt right down which ones they were...
And as for this i wrote down what i did.
Perform the following preliminary checks:
Automatic transmission in PARK or NEUTRAL ----Mannual transmission
Clutch fully depressed -Check
Battery connections -Check
Starter relay connections ---Connections on the main Starter? will do tommorow
Battery load test -Brand New installed today, But not sure how it is preformed still i left the cables unhooked to make sure something wasnt draing them.
Alarm anti-theft devices -no alarm
Fuse links -Which ones are these?
Ignition switch -Is this the one were the actual key goes? or nuetral safety switch?
the WTS light is operated by the PCM is you blew a fuse or relay for the PCM that would cause the WTS light not to come on and the truck not to start. double check all the fuses (both in the cab and under the hood) the relay for the PCM is the top one #30 (towards the front of the truck) in the under hood box (drivers side near the firewall). the relay right under it is for the blower motor so you can swap them and see what happens
So i finally got back home from work today and proceded to try and make the truck start ... since i knew i would be gone a few days i went ahead and left both batterys unpluged just to make sure the truck would not drain it some how. Since i wasnt sure if it was an electrical issue or just the CPS. I purchased a new one before i took off so i installed it and reconnected the battery cables making sure they were on tight. then i made sure that the batt cables were connected to the starter and the block ...checked all my fuses and relays even exhange the #30 relay with the blower relay and then i took out the ignition cylinder to make sure it visually looked ok wich it did so i put everything together and it still it did not turn on. The starter sounded like it wanted to turn over but then smoke seeped through the steering column. So now im thinking it might be the ignition switch. Has anyone every seen or heard of this happening?
