Nubie today! And I got questions please.

Hello everyone. Hope I am in the right spot! If not I know you will correct me.

I am the proud owner of a 1997 F350 4X4 automatic. I have had it about 10 years. I guess now is the time for (troubles)... Sooo here goes.

1. Driving 10 or more miles - shut eng off - GRUNTS to start as if low battery, but it's not low. (acts like an over heated coil) But not sure.
2. On acceleration just a goose. Loss of (all) power to everything. <But if I throw it in LOW(1) and goose it it recovers and runs fine till the next stop light.
(did this before kinda) it was a Transmission selenoid assembly. Located someplace in the trans. (Can't find out if I have to pull the trans to fix or not.)
3. Oil pan rusted out<<<< Do I have to pull the Engine >>> to change?
4. Now using Excessive(very) much gasoline. accompanied by all the other problems.
5>>>Not sure where to start. Map sensor or Ignition coil or Voltage Reg-Alternator, Or a pick up coil on distributor. ..
With heater blower on I am showing negative on battery charge.
6. Auto Zone does not have a tester for the computer. Ford dealership wants $80.00 to check.
I am 58 pins plates and cables all thru by BODy I move kinda SLOW. Fused wrist. So I am looking for a simple easy solution. Thanks ahead of time...
Jimmy Gee Holland Ohio.
I also wondered of an ignition module on distributor,
Boy I sure do miss the old flat heads. This electronics stuff confusing,,....!1

Could be the PIP sensor in the distributor or the coil.

Maybe the shift sensor on the side of the transmission. No you do not have to drop the transmission to change the solenoids.

No but you do have to lift it up and put blocks under the motor mounts.

More information needed here. What are you getting now and what engine and rear end to you have? Black smoke?

Start with the Charging system, this is a must before you can check the rest. Then maybe the pick up coil in distributor.

The ignition module (ICM) is mounted on the driver’s fender.

1, could be worn out brushes in the starter, that is if you haven't done anything with it in 10 years. But then you do say it may not be charging so you may just have a low battery.
2 loss of all power to everything???? You mean transmission not transmitting power right. Power could mean electric power? No reason to pull the transmission for a control issue, thats valve body solenoid pack stuff.
3 Maybe lift is some.
4 Tune up / overhaul worn out?
5 do you show 14 ish volts at battery terminals?
6 you can check it yourself search on here to find out how.
