truck wont start.electrical problems.

went to town this moring and shut my truck off for 2 minutes only to find that it wouldn't start. at first it just clicked but the secound time i tried it wouldn't do anything so we boosted it with a buddies truck and it barly started. once it was going the amp guage was all over the place. batery and alternator were both new within the last few months. truck is a 94 f150 302.
any ideas what could be wrong?

I would agree. Sounds like your battery went dead. You just need to figure out why. Start with loose connections, have the battery and the alternator checked and check your regulator.

kinda sounds like a bad regulator or a bad starter. my guess would be a bad starter though. test them both. if you are not getting 12 volts through one of them then thats your problem

should be on the passenger side fender near the battery. follow the positive battery cable to the regulator. then the positive cable goes from the regulator to the starter.

That item is called a Relay not a regulator.
If you have charging problems the regulator is inside (on the back) of the alternator.

He has a 94 so it would be a Relay and not a solenoid. The solenoid on a 94 is mounted on the starter.

I don't know for sure but if you have an external regulator it should be on the firewall. (could be wrong). Internals are part of the alt.
