My cluth is starting to head south...and fast. So I have been browsing and searching AutoZone's website and have found that they do have a clutch for my truck. But is my clutch a 10" or an 11"? I have never heard of anything like this. Please help. Is there any way for me to tell?
Assuming you have a '94 F150 the clutch probably is a 10-inch. Your auto parts dealer should be able to get you the correct clutch based on year, model, make, 2wd, etc and dosen't need to know what inch clutch it is. Now if you want to upgrade from a 10-inch to an 11-inch, then you need further advice which I don't have.

I have a 88 which I have replaced the clutch in. it was an 11' inch. when I went to the ford dealer to order a clutch I had every bit of info possible, engine, tranny, ratio, ext. and the fellow told me that there is no sure way to tell without measuring it.
however, this is an 88' model there is a good chance that things have changed by now.
P.S. I recomend going and buying a ford clutch. it will be a bit more expensive but you will probably be a lot happier. I know I was.
I recall that my '77 F100 300 I6 had an 11-inch clutch, but that my '84 F150 300 and my '95 F150 both have 10-inch. An 11-inch probably was supplied in the heavy duty applications, but I find it hard to believe the parts store needs to know unless the 11-inch was optional.

when I was asking the person at the ford company what the difference was, he said that he has called the plant before to try and figure it out and he has never gotten a clear answer. he said that Ford must have though that this was way to simple so they had to throw this in to make it more confusing.:-)
My uncle has the same setup as I do and he has a 10' clutch. so who knows.
I think most of the F150's came with the 10 In Clutch Disc & pressure plate . The flywheel has the bolt holes to install an 11 In clutch disc & pressure plate . I think if you are going to replace the clutch & its associated parts then going to the 11 in disc is the way to go . Make sure you replace all the clutch related parts , Slave Valve & Release Bearing , Pilot Bearing . Id recommend using the Ford Parts , Autozone stuff , well , In my opinion , thats just asking for trouble . Also inspect the trans & transfer case ( If Its 4wd ) for any leaks while you can work on them with ease .
My 81 F100 had a 10" clutch and my '85 F150 had an 11" clutch. The '85 is 4wd and the '81 (rest its soul) was 2wd. I snagged the clutch from the 81 to put in the 85 (the clutch was ~3000 miles old) but I haven't gotten the 85 up and running yet so I can't say how that worked.
For the record, I got a Borg Warner heavy duty setup for ~$140 at Western Auto.
