OK......Now that I have had the parking brake stuff figured out. Now I have a question about the brake booster. I looking for a booster with Master Cylinder. Again I have a 77 F250 4x4 Highboy with Dual Piston Calipers up front. I've looked at Rock Auto, Napa, and AutoZone. Rock Auto and Autozone gives only 1 and Napa gives 2 different ones with a different diaphram diameter. Don't know yet if I'm setting the truck up with cruise or not. Just wonder what a correct booster with Master cylinder would be. Thanks.
i have a 79 f100 2wd and I swapped in a 74 f250 2wd booster because it was smaller and gave me more room in the engine compt. I assume it will work. I will drive it today and let you know.
OK........Now I'm back on this subject again. These are the two from Rock Auto.
1. For an F250 pickup part number 509335 (with M/C)
2. (as Dennis suggested) For an F350 Pickup Part number 503311 (with M/C)
Is there a difference in mounting these to the firewall? (ie. direct bolt to the firewall or bolted to brackets).
I am swapping in a 460, and I'm not using tall valve covers since I have A/C, but would either one bother with motor? And if not, what would the main difference be between the boosters AFA performance?
I just put one on my early 77 from napa , called over told them I had a 77 F250 4x4 with dual piston calipers and they sent one over, looked exact as original and they didn't ask about different diaphragm diameters.
You want option 2, Buck. For what it's worth, when I did mine, I used the straight through on a 77 cab. I hunted all over the junkyards for the brackets, only to find out later that you can get the same booster for the linkage setup.
Another thing is to watch freeplay. Mine was ever so slightly tight, and my rears locked up on me. I ended up using a 1/8" plate for a spacer, but I don't know now the linkage setup adjusts. Maybe it's better?
