So I was bored, imagine that, and I know people say that 2002 was the turning point for the dana 50 to a dana 60 front. Which essentially means larger ring, pinion, and bearings (inside the differential). All else being the same. So I crawled under my 02 f250, and found a tag on the long axle tube that has ford p/n, dana p/n etc. If your interested in knowing what you really have, post your dana p/n. When I looked mine up, it came back with this:
Dana p/n 611159-1 which equates to:
FORD Model 60F2000+ FRONT 2002 - F-250/350 SRW (4X4)
The reason Im even asking you to give me your info, is because from reading that, it shows ford model 60 F (front) 2000+. Which makes me think that "2000+" could be a year designation? Give me some dana p/ns please!
My front axle code. "3.73 F81ACL 610892-1" I should have the Dana 50.
<BIG><BIG>FORD Model 50 FRONT 1999.5 - 2000 F-250/350 SRW (4X4) 3.73</BIG></BIG>
<BIG><BIG></BIG></BIG>
<BIG><BIG>This kinda confirms what I thought, it seems they only used the dana 50 from 99-00. Granted this says 99.5-00, the early 99 would be a different p/n, as it had different rotors, hubs, and caliper hardware.</BIG></BIG>
<BIG><BIG></BIG></BIG>
<BIG><BIG>Part of the reason I want to do this, is when I had given out information before, I had went off what "other people had said" (02+ had a 60) Which means I had be giving out the same wrong information. Anyone else got a p/n? </BIG></BIG>
well I am going to be interested in what this thread brings out because I would like to put a 60 in mine 2000 (which I know for a fact is a D50)
But you know you might be on something because I have noticed on a couple companies lift kits they have a year break in 2000, and it's mid year break like ones built before jan 2000 or something to that affect (mine was built 11/99)
Some early 02 SRW SDs had Dana 50s.
It was somepoint during the 02 model year that they switched to the Dana 60 in the SRW SDs.
My 01 has a D50 (can't tell you the BOM numbers) but I put 4.56 gears in it and an ARB air locker 2.5 yrs ago with a buddy of mine....it is a Dana 50.
Lift kits normally have a early 99 kit (different u-bolts, trac bar, pitman arm, etc..), and then Late 99 kit......00-04 are the same with the exception of the addition of the blocker beam to the 01-04 trucks.
My number is F81A3002AYM (D-275-B)
Are these the numbers you are loooking for??
Early 99 4X4, DRW, F350
If that was on a sticker, then look for the dana p/n Im going to guess it starts with a 61 and followed by four more numbers, then a dash and one more number.
Let me know what you find out, i think the number you gave is a ford p/n
