How to fix this.

I've been cleaning the old X as some of the post i've made. Making sure everything is changed and in good working order before we get the nasty weather. While checking the fluids under the hood i noticed after shutting the hood that on the driver's side of the X, the space between the hood and the grill is wider then the passenger side. And the headlight on the driver's side is a bit more spaced away from the grill then the passenger's.

I had an Oasis report and a Car Fax done prior to buying and it show'd nothing wrong with it. Plus if there's been any work done they did an exceptionly good job. Could this have come from the factory unaligned or should i investigate into this more? Or is there a way i can just adjust it myself?

Here's the only pic i got of the front. I can take a better one if need be.

Looks to me that the culprit is the grill. Remove it and see if anything is amiss.

The problem you have is not solveable. To prove to yourself that the problem you noticed is not solveable, here's what you do to convince yourself.

Open the left front door, and look down at the center post. There, you will see a manufacturer's sticker and I.D. Yup....bad news...it says something to the effect that your Excursion....was...(yes..I know...this is pretty sad...and scary too - almost kept me from buying mine.....) Ok, so as long as it's not the druuuug's i feel better.

Actually got the hood fixed, when they installed those bump stop's. The one on the driver's side looked like they got lazy and put it in just enough to get the threads started and called it good. I just measured the passenger side and lower'd the driver's side and now it looks pretty good.

To help the problem with the hood being higher on one side then the other what i did was this.

Pop your hood and you'll see 2 hood stops, one on each side and it should be on the front cross piece. They are rubber tipped and threaded. Depending on what you need done screw in one side or unscrew the other side.

I measured mind and divided it in half. Shut the hood. Check the gap if it looks evenly spaced your good if not pop and repeat.

If you need pic's of exactly what i'm talking about let me know and i'll snap some quick ones.

As far as the headlight spacing i'm not that worried about it. Only tell if your looking for it. The hood bother'd me the most. Looked like it had been tweaked.

Here are a pic's of the stops i was talking about that i moved up and down.

On mine this one i had to raise up a little bit. It's above the passenger side headlight.

This one i had to lower some. It's above the driver's side headlight.

Hope this helps...

The crazy thing about the first answer and your's is. I didn't ask who made my Big X. I asked about a silly problem i was having, just to make sure mine hadn't been in a cover'd up accident, or to see if this was a factory glitch.

Can't stand it when ppl post stuff in other ppl's threads that doesn't have anything to do with the ? or problem.
