And thanks for 3 minutes that I'll never get back -- I kept waiting for it to get better!
French autos have had the following features
1. A brake "button" as opposed to a pedal ( Citroen ) -- it was a foot button, but a pedal wasn't needed because they were power brakes. ( I guess that they never failed)
Per Jay Leno
2. switches that you pulled out to shut off ( headlighte, etc) -- I think that this was on a Peugot
3. A wheel with no center hole. Leno's very expensive tire machine could't
deal with this style.

No center hole in the wheels...this had to do with Citroens air/oil suspension...you know, the type that could be raised or lowered over a foot from inside the car. Remove a rear wheel, it was possible to drive without it!
With its air/oil suspension, this kept the car perfectly level.
Citroen ID19's and DS 21's = Where the @* &&%# starter switch? Pull back on the 4 speed column mounted shifter. (1950's Nashes had the same setup).
Citroenmatic...Where's the clutch pedal? There isn't one...By moving the lever, the clutch is engaged...Do NOT rest your hand on that lever, the car will go into neutral! The semi-auto transmission system was similar to the Mercedes-Benz Hydrac.
My dad, in addition to selling Oldsmobile's, was the Citroen Distributor for the western half of the US for 25 years.
