Isuzu D-Max

While I was overseas, I saw a bunch of these trucks running around, as well as diesel Rodeos with a truck bed instead of the enclosed cargo area (like Explorer SportTracs). I kind of got a kick out of it since we like to give the Chevy guys such a hard time...

Thought it would be an interesting read -- still looking for some smaller diesel trucks to show up around here...

Both Ford and GM are scheduled to come out with 1/2 ton diesel powered trucks around 2009. Last thing I read about the F-150 is the 6.4 will be dropped in it. That would make for a pretty quick truck!

I thought you were going to talk about the Isuzu Duramax engine, as that's who makes it. Pretty ironic they make a truck called a D max.

Whoever is first to bring the small diesel pickups to the market will sell a bunch!
Look at the TDI Tourag. 550ft lb torque coming out of a V-10 turbodiesel engine that people were paying through the nose to get.

theres some kind of "mahindra" brand trucks, imported from india, owned by international.
Every truck is either 1/4 or 1/2 ton, and ALL diesel. AND, supposed to be cheaper than GM/FORD/DODGE, better mileage, etc.

Check the navistar website, theres a like to the mahindra (or whtever the name is) website.

Has anyone heard when these mahindras are going to be available, or what kind of price they are going to be. looks like it might be a good little run around work pickup. Just curious

I was reading in my Diesel Power magazine and Dodge is going to drop a small Cummins in there 1500 by 2009. The real question is who will be first to bring it out

I don't think Ford is going to put the 6.4 in I don't think it will fit anyway in a 1/2 ton. The last I read about Ford was that it was going to be a 4.4L TD a bored out 3.9L form Land Rover. I think the HP was around 300 and TQ of 515ft/lbs.

That's why it caught my eye when I saw it. But if you look closely at it, it resembles a Chevy Colorado which I'm sure it's based on. It also looks like they are releasing it as a "Rodeo" in the UK:

The Diesel Rodeos I saw were more like the older ones with a bed as I described before.

So here is a question that no one has ever given me a good answer to. Why don't we get all these cool diesel vehicles in america any more. Is it because of our crooked oil companys or what. It seems we all ways have to wait if they come at all to the states.

I don't know. But diesel is so much cheaper than petrol over there, I'm sure that has much to do with it.

It's because of EPA.
