Now that its cold my truck likes to make a whole bunch of odd noises. One of the newest is a whistle noise that comes from the passenger side of the engine compartment, any idea of what this could be? My first thought it was vaccuum leak but it doesn't seem all that low on power (Power and 302 should never be said in the same sentence). Anybody else have any ideas?
I also get a grinding noise up front when its cold, but I believe this is a pulley. Any other suggestions for that also?
EDITED TO ADD: The whistle noise is only heard while the truck is idleing or until the truck reaches a certain RPM

It sometimes stops when the engine is warm and sometimes doesnt. I noticed it today for the first time when the engine was warm thats why it stood out. I don't think it was the heater motor as I usually don't use the heater in the morning since its such a short drive.
This thing just dogs itself around. If I'm in a hurry I'm constantly flooring it from stops to get somewhere. Usually I'm just relaxed so I don't need to do that but it doesn't have the power when I need it. But it has pulled our boat without anything happening so I'll give it that
Last tuneup was about 8000 miles ago. It already has a full exhaust on it (besides headers), but I plan on cutting the cat off soon. I won't do anything too major to it now as I am saving up for a rebuild/351 swap/new truck.
Could it possibly be a pinhole in the smog/AIR pump tubes? or...if you hear it when you have a lot of electrical acessories on, it could be the alternator getting ready to go.
I tried to listen but the more I think about it I think it's the alternator since it's been grinding also.
Also regarding the power issue, I was using the rear tank today (I rarely use the rear tank) and it had a heck of a lot more acceleration than when I use the front tank. I know my front fuel pump may be going out since it stutters but it was a huge difference. Could the fuel pump alone do this?
