1979 Starter Mounting Bolt Specs?? Please Help!!

I was wondering if anybody would know what the top mounting bolt for a starter on a 1979 F250 with the 351M would be? Thanks

Are you looking for torque or what thread bolt goes in there. If the latter, I would think it would be the same as the bottom one if you have that one.

I need the length of the top bolt. The length is the only thing that differs from the bottom one.

Ah, now we are getting somewhere! Your question was quite, uh, vague... You could be asking what bolt size, what size hex on it, what thread pitch, what grade of bolt, length, etc.

You need a bolt that is long enough to go through the starter's bore, and into the bell housing a good half inch. Without pulling a bolt out of my starter for ya (and believe me, that is harder for me than most people here, lol!), that is the best I can do for ya.

Lol well thanks i got it, mine is an old beater and actually there is nothin on the other side of the bell housing with threads, just a hole. So i got a 2 1/2 inch bolt and put a nut on the back side of it. Thanks though!!

Oh, ok... Weird! Usually you have a bolt with threads that go into the starter, and a bolt with threads that go into the bellhousing...
