Cool, was that legal and how far.I'm considering hauling hay your direction .
Heck I really don't know if was legal or not. It was a 30 ft. goose-neck with square hay bales. It was tarped and tied down very nicely. Tn. DMV said I didn't need a CDL if I stayed under 26K pds total.
That's where i'm unsure.I've heard I can haul 26000lbs gross with proper plating and equipment ,I have CDL no worries there. How much they getting for alfalfa square bales down there, and where in tn are you.+/-
have pulled 12,000 of scrap steel, 2500 for the trailer and 8,000 for the work truck. So 22,500. Was a work out for the truck though with the 3.55 rear
I pulled a 30 ft, tandem dually, Hudson HTD20A trailer (~9170 lbs) with a Ford 555 FWD backhoe (~15,500 lbs) along with the extra 12" & 36" buckets...so that's about 25K total. The trailer has a pintle hitch but luckily I could balance the load so the tongue weight was tolerable (~1000 lbs). I'm pretty sure I was illegal (no CDL or weight plate) so I took 30 miles of back roads to get it to the next job site
How about this one, 5200 lbs of peastone in the bed of the truck! and nothing broke but the tires were almost flat. The loader operator thought it was funny, I sure didn't. He dropped dang near 5 yards of stone..all at one time. I made the 6-7 mile trip with the front tires dancining in the air (felt like it anyway).
I think my truck weight either 8500 or 8900, I have weighed it empty before loading with feed, but can't remember. The extra weight comes from the skirted flatbed and 4 tool boxes loaded with tools, chains, binders, etc.....
40' dual tandem gooseneck fltabed trailer - approx. 8,000 (this is based on other trailers that I have weighed - this might be off 500 lbs. one way or the other
20 rounds bales of hay @ 1150# each
I hauled 3 loads one day - it pulled it but not very fast..ha
