Hey Guys, Im thinking about getting a HPX line for my dads truck. How hard is it to install? The only pics i saw was with the turbo off. I plan on getting the hard Line one after reading the earlier post about it. Plus is that all it will do for the truck is keep the injectors oiled evenly? Im sure its going to help save them when im on the 140 Horse Smoke setting. I wanna keep it in good shape because i plan on buying it off him in the spring Thanks
installation is pretty easy. the line equalizes the pressure to the injectors and is supposed to quiet the engine somewhat. here is a link for a install guide.
I also have the KCM line that ITP sells, it is literally a 10 minute job with the turbo on (of course I used an air ratchet to get the plugs out of the head)
Big difference? nah, but the peace of mind difference is great.
Smoother idle especially in the morning. Didn't noticed any additional performance. Remember to keep the plugs you take out in a baggie in your 7.3 Med Kit.
Just installed mine last weekend. I found the job easier by removing the intake tube and the passenger side CAC tube. It makes getting at the head much easier with the 5/8" wrenches. I also had my driver's side CAC off too to clean them (covered in oil slime) since I hadn't done that in a while. One of these days I'll mod the CCV to end the oil belching!
It idles noticeably quieter in the morning. Haven't noticed any performance gains, but I'm sure the engine runs smoother now that both sides are always at the same pressure. Hopefully it helps it last longer.
With all the tubes and intakes off it took less than 10 minutes to install. I have the plugs in the glove box (with an extra CMP of course) just in case. So far no leaks.
What is the KCM line mentioned in bdrummonds post? I am trying to learn all these acronyms for my 2000 F350 7.3L, the oil line to equalize pressure sounds like a good mod.
