I have ran couple Posts in My local forum. As well as Other state forums. On subjects like meeting at car shows or a eat and B.S. day out. Any topic really .
And I noticed that like 90% of responses were of 80-97 owners. Is this just a a rendom happening or are ""we"" Just more out going???
I think it just because all the newer truck owners r jellious >.
I look at most forums and the 97 down (all years included) Forums seem to be like a Familly . You know we fight may not like so and so > but in end would help them out of jamb. While having Fun at same time.
You'll find in any brand-based group/club/forum/organization that you'll have a bell curve of vehicle age indicating ownership - meaning most of the membership will be in the middle somewhere typically in the 10-20 year old vehicle range.
Older trucks fall apart, leak, rot, and have more opportunity to be wrecked because of miles traveled. Newer trucks might be leased by businesses and once they can't write them off any longer out they go - maybe into the hands of an enthusiast.
I'm not saying really old trucks or really new trucks can't be owned by enthusiasts - just saying that most of the enthusiast population of any brand typically is in the 10-20 yr old vehicle range.
With a larger population, you'll find more people. I have a theory on this. I believe no matter how you slice the population - by creed, race, favorite color, height, career choice, marital status, hobbies, vehicle choice or whatever - 10% of that slice are jerkoffs. The remainder 90% are good people.
So with the largest population of enthusiasts (at FTE) having 10-20 y/o trucks, we as forum participants are likely to run into a greater amount of good people simply because they're more people overall in our little club.
While the quantity of people in the 10% "jerkoff" designator also increases as well, the 90% gets to be so large that the 10% gets drowned out for the most part!
If you think about it... 10 friends having a beer and one acts like a jerkoff is fairly annoying to the other 9.
But when you have 1000 people, 100 being a jerkoff, while much larger in quantities, might be less noticable because the 900 good people seem to stick together more - momentum.
Hey, that sounded good

The 99-03 7.3 PSD group seems big too....much bigger than the 94.5-97 7.3 PSD and the pre PSD group based on post count. Older diesels must not end up in the hands of enthusiests.
Yes indeed, get much older than 1980 and the people who own the trucks either never leave the offroad forum, or are crabby old grouches. (No offence to NumberDummy, who is a crabby old grouch of the best kind)
Though i have to say, down in my local forum weve got alot of active people with varying ages of trucks if you want a good BS session stop on into the WAFTE Asylum!

Our trucks might be getting old but they hold their value well. Out of a 98 Contour, 91 Mustang GT, and 95 F-150, my F-150 was valued the highest by my county tax assessment (something like $2,500). In actuality the Mustang is the most valuable, but the F-150 would probably go for 5 or 6 thousand still.
Yeah, I think our truacks are a lot more geniuine problems rather than newer problems like puters and cheaper way things are done. I think a lot of cases our trucks were worth the money and I believe they were built to last more so than newer trucks, so its easily to sympathize with a guy that has the same problem you did or us remembering when we threw our socket wrench in the neighbors yard cuz we were so frustrated, may just save another guy from doing the same. At any Im new and I joined cuz of the friendly atmosphere, glad to be here and so far in 2 days more guys have helped me than friends that are mechanics, thanx all.
I knew it was basically what Frederic said. But thought lets shake the hive and see what happens. But the numbers on newer F150 are up there as I look at all forums .
I agree with all that was said (even that part about the cupholders) our trucks aren't old...but they're outdated compared to other (basically wealthier) folks. We know all the quirks fixes and mods to get everyone going the direction they want to go.You live, you learn. There is a wealth of information in these forums...and any of them for that matter.Just like Big Kenny says.....feel the love.Later my brothers.
