Hey,
I have an '84 F150 I6 300, 4x4, wiht a carb. Well, In the mornings, or whenever the truck has been sitting for a good number of hours, when I start it up, a few minutes later, I'll get a spray on the concrete, or a big black circle on the carport wall where the exhast pipe is, for some reason, soot, or something like that is getting shot out of there. Its kinda annoying, not really hard to clean, but, its shouldnt be doing that. Any ideas, help, sugestiongs?
Thanks
Eric
Well....if you are not getting any smoke (Blue or white) you are OK.....as for the black crap....that is the carbon that lines the inside of your exhaust. When you start your truck....you start the combustion process. And if you stayed awake in Physics class, you know one of the by-products of buring gas is H20. SO you get a little water build up in side the pipe when its cold. that water just makes its way back collecting carbon as it goes. But as it warms up...the pipe will get hot enough to evaporate the water. You might want to see if your running a little rich....other than that....just dont park soo close to the G-door! haha...hope i could help!
