I just added a Clifford 4bbl intake and Hedman headers to my truck. The carburetor is a 450cfm Holley off a 66/67 390 that I upgraded with center hung float bowls and some detailing. When I did the upgrade I also installed a Lokar style throttle cable and chrome spoon pedal. I haven't quite got all the bugs worked out yet, but it runs pretty good. There's always room for improvement.

This second pic is to show the new cable and bracket mount.
Yeah, that looks great!!! That's one of the great things about the older engines, It would be really hard to make a newer engine look that great and still have it be able to pass emissions.

Did you paint the intake? What color did you use if you did? may have to steel that idea.......
Hi Dan, Someone had already polished the intake before I bought it. I got it off eBay about a year and a half ago. I picked it up for about 125 bucks if I remember correctly. I used a small orbital buffer with some blue magic, and it brightened the aluminum right back to what you see here. It was pretty dull when I received it, but a little elbow grease and it shined right up.
Thanks Truckfreak for the idea, but I just rebuilt and detailed this carburetor. I sprayed it with Carb Renew from The Eastwood Co. and then clear coated it with some high temp, gas/oil resistant clear. I wrote a tech article on how to do this on my website at:

Look under the project section. =)
It really looks a lot nicer than these pics show. I had to use my daughter's JamCam because my Mavica will not accept disks anymore. I'm saving up to buy a new Canon Powershot G2.
