I know we are all big fans of dp tuner, wish i had one right now and then i wouldnt need to bring up this topic. My question is mainly for guys running like 35 in tires on 3.73s with DP. I get a solid 16mpg with my superchip and my company is cracking down on fuel, so do you guys think i could do better on fuel mpg with a dp? I know there are vast performance bonuses but really right now im just looking for mpg. Thanks fellas.
I just went from a Superchip to a DP tuner. My truck is a LOT more fun to drive with the DP!! I haven't noticed much of an increase in fuel milage BUT, the new hasn't worn off yet... Like I said, the truck runs on DP the 80hp econo BETTER than it did on the Superchip performance tune. DP is THE way to go with a 7.3!!!!!
I have been thinking about sending my PCM to Dp for the 80HP Econo flash. For $75.00 plus shipping I thought it would be an economical way to gauge DP Tuner performance. Has anyone out there tried this. Your comments please.

If your truck is bone stock, don't waste the money. The flash will work well and you will want more, but then you need an exhaust, intake, and gauges. You cannot have your cake and eat it too.
On the other hand, that taste is all some need to get real busy with their trucks.
AIS intake has been shipped. Next on list is MBRP 4" Turbo Back Exhaust, gauge package from ITP, DFA fuel return and then have my PCM flashed. I am looking more toward effiency than performance. After the PCM flash I will be doing one of the Hutch Mods and then the Harpoon Mod. The best order I can think of right now.
Sounds like a good plan. Very few have satisfied themselves with a puter flash here but they are out there. I guess I am a gearhead that needs more. Correct that, wants more. My truck could do everything I needed it to when I bought it. I just cannot leave well enough alone.
My truck was all I needed when I bought it 5 years ago, but after reading about some of the short falls of the 7.3 and what can be done to improve it I got very interested. Before I put $4,000.00 into all there is I thought I could spend $1500.00 to see if the next $3500.00 will be worthwhile. Besides I need a hobby. I forgot to mentiion that the SS HPX from KCM is on the list.
You are well on your way. If you are like many of the folks here who like to be able to dust off not only your average idiot, but even the fast and furious wanna-be, you have the platform for it. Nothing more rewarding than smoking a ricer in a truck that weighs about 4 tons. Then you can go tow the load. I have smoked ricers pulling my boat. That is a feeling you never forget. The look on their face, priceless.
Back to the topic. You don't need to wonder about the DP tunes. Get set up, and get the tunes you need. You will be overwhelmed at how these trucks can move.
Thanks for the advice about DP Tuner. If they can handle a PCM flash and if I have a problem and they are their to help and resolve the problem than I would probably upgrade from there. That's just the way I do things. Everything must go for a test drive. I know it sounds boring but that's just how it is for me.

give Dennis at ITP Diesel (in PHOENIX) a call , he is also a DP dealer IIRC. I am sure he has a truck or two sitting around with DP's in them that he would let you test drive. Same price from Jody or from Dennis. Both provide great customer care.

I swapped PCM's with Jody a couple of years ago...I got the 40hp tow and an update for the PCM for a shift problem that the original program had (when in cruise if it shifted down on a grade to third from OD, the tranny wouldn't upshift at the crest of the hill to OD). Ford wanted more for the PCM flash update than Jody wanted for the program update with the 40hp tow flash) plus I had my truck out of the hands of the stealership ! Best money I have spent on my truck...shifts better, better fuel mileage (though not much better), but much better drivability!
